20 October - Away to Caernarfon |
20 October - Away to CaernarfonRhyl Veterans had their first run out of the season at Caernarfon last Sunday when a lot of the players from the sides of the Eighties were back on the field. For once veteran Keith Jones was one of the youngest players on the pitch as he, Mel Jones and Colin Hall went through their paces, aided and abetted by stalwarts John Hannen and Bob Parry. John Hardy put on a Rhyl shirt again for the first time in twenty years and showed he had lost none of his guile and cunning, as did Paul Jones in the centre. With solid performances from Sean Hassett, Dave Jones, Tony Evans, Kevin Smith and Andy Carroll and the added bonus of Andy Jones successfully passing a test on his knee problem, the Rhyl side narrowly shaded a “win” although the emphasis was as much on the celebrations after the game as the result itself! |
Bob Parry "celebrates" (new word for that sort of behaviour!) with try-scoring Keith Jones |
John Hannen on a galloping run |
End of the game ... and now it's time for the real effort!! |
