There are several good reasons to visit the zoo at this time of year. No crowds, and all the animals (at least those that aren't hibernating) think you're a keeper with more food, so they get really interested in you being there.
First stop to see the flamingoes, resplendent in their pink plumage, even though blue would have been more appropriate!
